Home Renovations

Getting our home ready to accommodate a handicapped child is critical. Below are the projects and items that we know we will need before bringing him home.

We live in a two-story home that sits on a basement. Our garage is in the basement. Fortunately, our driveway wraps around to the back of our house and meets up with the back deck, which has access to the main floor of our home. This will also be the floor where John David's bedroom will be located.

Projects

  • Rebuild back deck to be handicap accessible, providing entrance from our vehicle to the main floor of our home.
  • Convert the half-bath on the main floor to a full bath.
  • Redo the floors on the main floor to make them all even.

Items Needed

  • Bunk bed with a larger bed on the bottom.
  • Kid wheel chair
